Former Vice President and Tennessee Senator Al Gore has taken a lot of ribbing when he made headlines for “creating the Internet”, which he has taken in good form. Now he is grabbing attention for joining the fray we call Twitter. He joined yesterday (November 6, 2008) and already has a following over 9,200 and growing fast. Although if you start following him don’t expect him return the favor. The only follow he has is his television/Internet venture Current.
As fast a news travels in the tweetosphere Gore couldn’t have found better arena to take his show to. Earlier today I noticed that contact I have lost their dog around the lunch hour and sent out a quick tweet on the way to distribute flyers. The word traveled has enough that they were reunited with lost canine before rush hour. It really does make you take a pause to think about how the power of instant information and communication can shrink distances and make the near impossible possible.
