Also if you would like to have a skills competition, click on the bird and let us know.

It has taken me longer to get to post here since last. That was on April 15th, Tax Day. First I’ve to thank everyone that has stopped by here over the last year. I’m not getting wildly rich from this blog, but the support here does help make ends make. I really appreciate each and every one of you.

There has been a lot going on online and off. I’ve had a lot of contact in e-mails, social networks and phone conversations with a few readers. It’s been a great experience and I hope that folks were about to walk away with some new ideas from the exchange.

The Overlooked Tree

Everyone goes looking for the richest forest. The biggest misconception is that you have to reach all the over the map to achieve that. We tend to overlook how valuable the wood is from trees in our own backyard. I was looking over a budget for friend during this past weekend when I noticed something that caught my eye. Take a quick look at these keywords and bids:

california auto insurance quotes $57.34
auto insurance quotes california $57.01
arizona divorce attorneys $53.56
dui attorney los angeles $52.75
personal injury attorneys chicago $51.59
houston criminal lawyer $49.59
criminal houston lawyer $49.59
san diego criminal lawyer $48.30
chicago personal injury lawyers $46.81
dui attorney san diego $46.04
chicago injury lawyers $45.22
maine white water rafting $45.18

Have you noticed the common denominator in this list? There is a city or geo-location in each keyword. This list knocked home a point I try to make when someone is looking for a market that can help them be profitable online – THINK LOCAL, REACH GLOBAL.

Plant an Acorn and Grow a Strong Oak

OK so you don’t live in one of those cities and you are thinking this list won’t help you. You are missing the big picture. More professionals with a local service area is using Google Adword to market on the Internet today. They could care less about landing a client on the other end of the country, it would cost them more than they would take in. They want clients in their backyard. They are competitive with the advertising budgets because have get the customers in their area before their competitor does. They are targeting their local market and you should be too.

A hyper-local blog or website, augmented with Twitter and Social Networks as traffic feeder can become profitable faster than a blog about blogging, Work at Home, car buying or dieting. People are more interested about restaurants, movies, festivals, public service, professionals and etc close to home. They going to be looking online until they find a good local information source.

Hyper-local is a hot market and chances are you aren’t going to have too many others swimming in the same pond. If you do find interest that they aren’t devoting as much coverage on.

Using The Lunch Money Challenge In Your Neighborhood

This week we will start looking at ways to use social media to make lunch money. To participate in this exercise doesn’t require any investment at all, it will be sticking to the No Start-Up Cost theme that everyone enjoys.

There is one low cost purchase I would suggest that would help you – an Internet domain name. This usually less than $10 at most registers. Don’t purchase one just yet until

Here is a list of the things you will want to gather:

Google Adsense account – The user name will be used to access other Google services

Pepperjam account – This affiliate network has some great advertisers and tools to help you monetize your website

Facebook membership. Myspace is also OK, but it doesn’t have the reach of Facebook

Memberships to social bookmarking sites like – Reddt, Propeller, del.icio.us, Digg and Mixx

Yahoo account – for Flickr and Site Explorer

Free classified, weekly and alternative newspapers from YOUR city

All the Internet services are free, so there is no excuse not give this exercise a try.

A Contest

If there is enough interest in participating in the Hyper-Local exercise I might be able to find a few sponsors that would step up for some prizes. Are you up for the challenge? If so then click on Sir Tweet O’ Lot (or just his name) at the top of this article to send a tweet my way or leave a comment below saying you are interested.

Today’s post is from a guest author, Ben Johnson. Ben generously offered to fill in while I was in transit over the holiday weekend. As you can tell by the story, Ben is an authority of on the subject of Branding and Logo Design.

Lots of marketing and branding efforts make your logo the face of your company. People start to instantly recognize your logo when it appears on your advertising and marketing mediums. Obviously you like your logo and never want to let it go or change it. However what you may not be considering is the fact that with changing times, the design preferences and tastes change too. No wonder why larger organizations update their logos to portray a more contemporary feel. This however does not mean that you should change your logo overall. In this piece of writing we will discuss why improving small bits of rudiments in your logo are essential to maintain your heritage and brand image.

The evolotion of the Xerox logo.Ask yourself before going for a face lift

Ask yourself before going for a face lift

Before going for a change, ask yourself few questions, if your answers is no to all or most of the questions below, than the effective logo redesign is the answer.

1. Take a close look at your logo not being as an owner rather being as a customer. What do you feel? Does the design appeal to you?

2. Can the color, font, style and other elements are recognized easily?

3. Is your logo look fresh and modern with contemporary logo design trends?

4. Is your logo successful in portraying a business image to your target audience?

5. Is your logo compatible with all the advertising and marketing mediums?

6. Is you logo unique and doesn’t match with your competitor’s logo?

Possible reasons for logo redesign

Redesigning of logo and improving the look sometimes become crucial. There are several reasons which can justify the above mentioned comments:

1. Updating your logo look more eye-catching to viewers. The graphics, images, colors, fonts used in the logo must all reveal the aesthetic element of the design. If the logo you have does not meet the above standard, a logo redesign is highly recommended to earn benefit out of the logo.

2. Colors, fonts, and all the other elements should be located in your logo in such a way that they are easily visible to the viewers. If the fonts are hard to read, or logo is over-crowded with too many colors, it tends to irritate the customer and he won’t be able to recognize your logo when he sees it next time. Whereas, simple and easy to recognized logo will provide the viewer to memorize it at a glance. If your current logo has necessary message buried and irritates the viewer in finding the purpose of your business, then a logo redesign is a turnkey solution to draw attention of the viewers.

3. The style of your logo is another very important factor. There may be many things you wish to put in your logo, but at the same time you must keep in mind that the style should be similar to the characteristic like the type of your business or the kind of your target audience. If the logo you own does not suitably portray your business purpose to the old customers, logo redesign is necessary in order to carry targeted message accurately and efficiently.

4. The logo design trends are constantly changing. New trends like Web 2.0, Waves, and Organic 3D are in the market that make logos look fresher and eye-catching and portray the company’s image as an innovative and modern. Thus, if your logo is not according to the current logo design trends, and doesn’t look fresh and modern, you will not be able to battle with competition. When such things happen, giving your logo a face lift can prove to be enormously successful.

5. Determine how you are going to use your logo on different marketing and advertising mediums like billboards, brochures, letterheads, pens, buttons etc., therefore, logo is meant to be versatile, and its design should bestowed to any use imaginable. But, if your logo is not compatible with all the available mediums, it’s better to consider redesign.

Winding up the discussion

Briefly, your company’s logo is one of the key elements to its potential success and the starting point for branding of any type. Getting a logo redesign with slight changes, not only looks appealing to the customers, but also helps in increasing the revenue. Additionally, changing necessary elements will add the professionalism to your logo, which is the sole identity of your business to the millions of viewers.

Have you been on the bubble about buying one of those super cool video cameras The Flip? Here’s something you might not have thought of yet, The Flip and it’s cousins could actually help you with your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) strategy. Go ahead and order one and I’ll tell you how. You can order it from the links in this post or the Sponsors area of the sidebar, I could use the commission to help keep to keep this site going.

Social Videos

Once you become acclimated to social media, you’re going to find yourself watching a lot of videos. YouTube is the most popular of video websites and everyone has been there or seen a video from YouTube embedded on another website. There are a lot of websites that attempt to emulate YouTube, but none reach it’s audience share. Not to be left in the cold, social networks like Facebook, Myspace and others have added a video section that allows users to upload their own videos. For the sake of demonstration I’m going to stay mainly YouTube.

Adding Movement to Your Social Media Marketing

If you are using social networks and media to promote your business or have started practicing some The Lunch Money Challenge exercises, then you already had a few photographs to your profile. Those photos may have used to show what you sell or what your service does, but wouldn’t moving pictures and sound go a long ways towards making you look like a three dimensional living being and not a flat object on a computer screen.

You have a website and social media profile on the Internet in hopes that you can draw customers in to hear your best sales pitch. Nothing is stopping you from giving it to them before they even darken your doors or visit your website. In fact you can refine and deliver your sales pitch without interruptions or other distractions thanks to video editing software that come with The Flip. Your potential customers are also able to view and listen on their own time – rewinding if needed – to understand everything in your video and becoming an educated customer in the process.

The Great Video Search Factor

Once you’ve have recorded and edited your video, it’s time to uploaded to YouTube. There are some factors to help you get your video discovered and improve your in position in SEPR (Search Engine Page Results).

The algorithm for YouTube is based mainly on five elements:

Title

Description

Tags

Number of views

Rating

These factors also become mixed in to Google’s algorithm and SERPs because YouTube is a part of the Google universe. Knowing this you should take the extra time to make sure your entries in the first three factors are on point to help the second factors. Let’s take a look at each the five factors.

Title

When you title your video use the keywords you want to associate your video and your website with. Be selective and don’t cram keywords, stuffing will stick out like a sore thumb and will only hurt you in the long run. Pick one keyword and sculpt an easy to remember sentence with it.

Description

The is self explanatory, but you do need keep to things in mind while filling it out. Again include keywords that you want your video and website associated with when someone is searching for it. Be honest in your description don’t try to get listed with something that isn’t closely related to the video. Try to stay with the one keyword your picked for the title.

Try to include the main keyword in the first 27 letters of the description as this will be returned with the search results. If you can include your website address in the first 27 characters (i.e. Beggars.us This car rocks.). Then use the rest of the description for when they come to the video.

Remember the viewers will be rating the video, so if you’re were less than truthful with your description you are going to taking a beating. They can also write in the comments that description was a lie to warn others not to bother watching it.

Tags

You now need to tag your your video, which is simply assigning keywords that fit the video and your website. Be fair and honest. Don’t stuff the tags with something that is far reach for the subject matter. Five tags at best should serve you well.

Number of Views

You may think you have little control over the number views on the YouTube, but that is not necessarily true. YouTube is a social network and you can add friends. You can build them by taking the time to view other videos on the site, leaving comments and adding the submitter and other commentators as friends. Then when you submit a video they will get a notification about it. You might every so often send messages to a few friends asking to check the new video, just don’t do it constantly.

Consider promoting the video on social bookmark sites like Digg and Reddit. Remember that the narrative you use to link to the video is going to be an extension of what you want your website to be associated with. Don’t cram to many keywords or mislead people about the subject matter of the video.

You can also use Twitter to promote your videos. You can use your RSS feed from your profile to send like we did with RSS to Twitter post.

Rating

You have more control over the rating of the video than you give yourself credit. If you are honest by not misleading people to view your video you should receive high marks. Also there is nothing in the terms of service that says you can’t ask for people to rate it high in the description. You will find it’s easier to get viewers, even if they a marginally interested in your subject matter, as long they know going in to it what the video is going to be about.

Now that we have been over the five biggies of the YouTube search it’s time to turn to other ways to turn your video to attract traffic to your website. I’ll just throw out a few, because I will adding another post about YouTube/SERP at a later date.

YouTube Video Overlay

You see the “Bugs” on television and YouTube videos all the time. The “Bug” is the graphic overlay on the video that list the website. A bug or overly is easy to add with The Flip software or other video editing software. Use a easy to read font with a color that complements the video. If possible fade it a little so that the overlay doesn’t take over the message of the video.

Putting the Best Light on the Subject

When you are shooting the videos keep and eye on the quality of light you are filming under. If the light is dim the colors will be muted and won’t be as sharp. If you stand in noon day sun, you are going to get deep shadows and a contrasty scene that will be hard to see important details.

Family Friendly Video

Expect that some of your viewers are children and they don’t need to see or hear any vulgar language or see sexy shots. While the children aren’t going to the purchasers their parents will and Mom & Dad may have to bring their children with them. If they see or hear something on the video they don’t want their children around they aren’t going to come to you if you’re cussing constantly on video.

Mash and Grab

YouTube videos can be embedded into web pages and other social media networks. Grab the embed code and place the videos on your website and social network page. You can’t have too much exposure for your marketing materials.

Enhance Your Blog

Adding a video of an event you attended or an activity you blog is the perfect way to capture the reader’s attention. Using video is also a chance to build a stronger personal relationship with your reader base and having them stopping by your blog even more.

Now that you have a good understanding on how The Flip can improve your SERP and raise your bottom line you now longer have an excuse not to buy one, plus it’s always handy to have around when the dog is stuck in you golf bag or the kids decide to turn flower pots into a fortress. If you do plan on purchasing one please consider doing so through one the links in the post or the banner on middle sidebar.

If anyone is using The Flip to promote their business on YouTube, I’d love to have you post a link to it in the comments section.

Recently Digg introduced the DiggBar to it’s website (The DiggBar is not the Digg Toolbar). Some people are liking the DiggBar and others are hating it.

Here’s how the DiggBar works, when someone checks out a link that is posted they are taken to a page on Digg’s website where the web site is in an iFrame below the DiggBar. Sounds OK on the surface, but there’s plenty of SEO fanatics are worried this may cause cause damage to a website search ranking. There is no way of knowing for certain until the summer Google Dance, by the way rumor has it that the April 9th will be the latest page rank update.

Back in the 90′s I was working for a newspaper group and the owners wanted us to create a similar contraption as the DiggBar to keep visitors on our websites as much a possible. The company charged per advertisement impressions and they were going to do everything they could to milk every impression possible. I created script in Pearl for the outlink bar to please my bosses, but we found that our readers and the sites we linked to hated the outlink bar. What we noticed was that we started to lose readers over the run of a year. Finally the decision was made to drop the bar and the readers slowly returned.

At the time of the outlink bar I owned website that I that was linked to from a few of the newspapers and I hated the bar because it was a distraction that would prevent first time viewers from bookmarking my site. I decided there was something I could do about the problem and came up with a short script to breakout of the framed page. It was nothing fancy, just functional and there are a thousand variations that can do the same thing. After reading and hearing people cry foul about the DiggBigg I thought I would share the script.

The script in the area below is simple to install and incorporate into your website or blog. Simply highlight and copy the text between the “—Copy Below—” and “—Copy Above—”, paste it into the head of area of your webpage and save the page to your web server. It shouldn’t take more than a couple minutes to do and you can go find the next issue help with your search engine optimization strategy.

—Copy Below—

<script language=”Javascript”>
<!–
if (top.location != self.location) {
top.location = self.location.href
}
//–>
</script>

—Copy Above—

UPDATE: You can download the script here in a text file. Simply open it up in a text editor, then copy and paste into your the head of you webpage anywhere before the closing tag </head>. Thanks to Mantis108 for pointing out this out. I’ll double check things on the final post in the future.

Click Sir Tweet O' Lot to tweet this story.

Google’s AdWords network has become one of the biggest online PPC ad networks. Millions of users everyday around the world are exposed to ads from Google. How many of those are your ads, and how many out of those millions are seeing them?

You’re probably already running a search campaign, but are you on the content network? If you aren’t, well, why not? You’re missing out on the opportunity to exponentially expand your reach to customers around the world that you aren’t getting to by using search. Using Google Analytics to help you refine your Google site placement within the content network can maximize your results from a content campaign.

There are thousands and thousands of sites to choose from on the content network, but you can choose the sites where you want your ads to appear. It can be overwhelming when you’re first trying to figure out what your campaign will be. There are several ways you can run your content campaign in order to optimize the result you get.

How To Choose The Right Sites

But how do you choose which sites to advertise on? Google Analytics has a great tool to help you figure out just that. It’s the Google Placement Tool, and it’s a great way to get an ultra-targeted campaign.

Using the referring sites report in Google Analytics, you can see all of the sites that sent visitors to your site. These are usually people who are writing about your site, such as press, articles, blogs, forums, or other online publications. A lot of these referring sites are part of the Google content network, and you’re able to run advertisements on them.

So why not run your content network ads on these sites? They’ve already proven to have an audience interested in your product or service. This is a super-easy way to get access to a highly targeted audience without any extra cost.

To do this, you will have to use Google’s Placement Tool. You start by importing the list of referring sites into your AdWords campaign, and then export the referring sites list into a .csv. Next, you copy the list of sites, and then paste it into a placement targeted campaign that you’ve already set up in AdWords.

That’s all you need to do to start running a highly-targeted campaign on sites that are already talking about you. Since it only takes about 5 minutes to do, what reason could you have for not trying it out?

Maximize Your Next Campaign For Free

Another way to maximize your content network campaign is by using AdWords Digger, It searches and ranks sites based on your criteria, from which you can then pick and choose and import into your AdWords placement targeting list. It’s also completely free.

Google AdWords is an extremely popular ad serving platform used in PPC advertising campaigns. While most people understand the basics of AdWords, from picking keywords and creating ads, what most people don’t know is that their AdWords campaigns are manually reviewed by editors at Google, and they will assign you a penalty or shut you down altogether if they think that you’re violating one of their policies. Here’s what to avoid if you want to keep your site up and running:

Using Inappropriate or Offensive Language

This should seem like an obvious one, but you’d be surprised at the number of people who try to use inappropriate or offensive language as a kind of shock tactic to get clicks. It may work in the (very) short-term, but then your ads get taken down, and if you managed to be really offensive, your site will get shut down as well.

And don’t assume that you can get away by using double entendres or by thinking that you’re being really clever. While the Google algorithms may not recognize it, you can bet that the editors will.

Using Copyrighted or Trademarked Terms

Google has strict guidelines in place in regards to trademarks and copyrights, and you’ll get a warning at the ad creation level if you try to create an ad that contains one. They are really strict with this rule, as they, as well as you, are the ones who will be listed in the lawsuit should someone decide to sue for copyright infringement.

Having Misleading Offers, Special Prices, or Discounts

You’re allowed to mention pricing, special offers, or discounts in your Google Adwords ad, but the claim made in the ad must be backed up on the landing page. Any use of misleading offers that the user can’t actually claim will get your ad flagged.

Redirecting the User to A Different URL

Google expects to see, when someone clicks on your ad, that the user is taken directly to the site with the same URL as the one you displayed in your ad. In the past, advertisers had taken advantage of this to redirect users to a completely different URL than the one posted in the ad. Google has cracked down on this and will not tolerate it.

Using Superlatives or Competitive Claims Without Backup

You can claim that you’re the best in the world, or that you’re better than one of you competitors….but you’d better have the proof to back it up once people get to your landing page. And considering how hard it is to proof that you’re rated #1 or are the best at something, it’s usually best to err on the side of caution and avoid using superlatives of competitive claims in your AdWords ads.

The point of the landing page quality score is to penalize advertisers who don’t provide useful landing pages, and give them a lower rank within Google’s quality ranking, which raises the cost of their minimum CPC.

More importantly for those of us who are already striving to produce quality sites and landing pages, a better quality score will lead to better rankings for our ads and a lower CPC.

So, how do you get a better landing page quality score?

According to Google, there are 3 things they look at when calculating a landing page’s quality score: relevant and original content, transparency, and navigability. Here’s how to get a good quality score from Google and accomplish and get your conversions at the same time:

Relevant and Original Content

To start, make sure your domain name is relevant to your market. For your landing pages, make sure that each keyword you have, you have a separate landing page. Make sure they the keyword is in the URL, such as “springgardens.php” if your keyword is “spring gardens”. Also make sure to include your keyword in all of the title tags, meta tags, and description meta tags.

Also make sure that you’ve got original content on each of your landing pages. This is especially important for affiliate marketers, as there could be hundreds of landing pages promoting the same product. By differentiating your content from that of the vendor of the product, you’ll increase your quality score over that of your competitors who just recycle the vendor information.

Transparency

For transparency, make sure to link to a valid sitemap, contact us page, and privacy policy page. What Google wants to see is that you openly share information about your business, and how your business operates.

When requesting information from your site’s visitors, make sure to provide them with the privacy policy so that they understand how they’re information is going to be used. Another good idea is to limit how much information they receive from you; give them an option to opt-out of some correspondence. Google likes to see users given the choice of how their information is used.

An obvious aspect of transparency is by delivering on the products and services that you offer in your ad, and to only charge customers for the products and services that they actually order and successfully receive. While this may seem implicit in your site, it doesn’t hurt to find a way to say it somewhere on the landing page. It will both raise your quality score with Google as well as put your users at ease.

Navigability

Google wants to see a clear path to follow on your landing pages, making it easy for users to purchase or receive the product or service you’ve advertised – which is exactly what you want too. Avoid using pop-ups, pop-unders or other obtrusive elements in your landing pages.

Now that you’ve got great landing pages with great quality scores, you can then turn your attention to your Adwords campaign. By matching the best keywords with your customized landing pages, you can maximize conversions and minimize your CPCs, resulting in a bigger profit margin for you.

You’re so inundated with all of the products that you hear about that can make you rich by making money online. If they’re all true, then why aren’t we all rich?

Good question. There are many ways to make money online, and there should be enough to go around for everyone. Why, then are only some affiliates succeeding while others are failing?

Because the ones who succeed are remaining focused. As affiliate marketers who are trying to make money online, you need to remember at all times what you’re trying to accomplish. Those who are struggling to make money have lost their focus, and have become distracted from the core of their online business plan.

There are many ways to make money online; try them all at once and you’re guaranteed to fail.

In short, you can lose sight of your goals. If you’ve decided that the best way to sell your products and earn you money is through PPC advertising, then what are you doing buying software to help you with list building? You’re splitting your focus, and your business is hurting as a result.

If you’ve decided that PPC advertising is the way to go for your online business, then concentrate on that. Learn as much as you can about PPC advertising, buy products to maximize your PPC campaign. Don’t get distracted by all the other forms of advertising out there until you’ve given your PPC advertising campaign the attention it deserves.

The problem that most affiliate marketers encounter when they’re starting out get distracted by the sheer amount of advertising vehicles available to them. List building one day, SEO the next, on to PPC and so forth. They start out trying to understand their niche, get distracted by membership sites, and then that gets put on the back burner when they get this great email about how you can make a mint on Ebay.

All of this discussion begs the question: what is your plan to make money online? Out of all the different methods available, what do you think will work best for you?

If you do decide that PPC advertising is the way to go, then make a commitment to do it was thoroughly as possible. Then, when the next interesting news about a great new product comes your way, you need to stop, and evaluate whether or not it will help you meet the goals that you’ve set for yourself. If it doesn’t, then no matter how interesting it is, walk away, because it will just distract you from your goals.

So How Does PPCKahuna Come Into All of This?

Building an online business can be frustrating if…

Let’s face it. It’s no fun building a successful online biz.

… Many late nights
… Endless testing
… Frustration
… Even lost money, time

At the end of the day, you often find yourself running in circles trying desperately to find something that works.

Your goal might be $10 per day, $100 or even $1000 per day.

But, the challenge is… how do you get there?

(without waiting 2 years or burning through 3 grand on your Visa card)

About a year ago, I stumbled upon a website and read about a community of serious (and successful) Internet Marketers.

These people were actively involved in grabbing free traffic from the search engines. They exchanged ideas,
strategies and had access to some power-tools to quickly build websites and blogs.

No search engine tricks. No “risky” or short-lived tactics involved.

Plus, this community also pooled their resources and collectively “own” a private network of over 6,000
niche-specific, quality content blogs.

So, all members can get backlinks and syndicate content to this blog network.

When I read this, I couldn’t help but get excited.

Everyone knows that getting a large amount of quality backlinks to your website or blog is one of the big
keys to dominating the search engines.

This “community” that I am talking about here is called PortalFeeder.

Once I signed up with PortalFeeder, there was a lot more included than I even imagined.

If you want to build several streams of income online and get the guidance, information, tools and resources
to make it easier and faster, you really need to go see this:

Portal Feeder Priority Announcement List

I’ve been involved with PortalFeeder for over a year now and I highly recommend it. The doors are often
closed and membership is limited.

Go to the website for details. Put yourself on the waiting list and be the among the first to be notified
when PortalFeeder is accepting new members again.

This could be the best decision you make in 2009 to take your online business to new heights. Go and check it out now:

One last thing. The last time I checked the website, they were giving away a free copy of the PortalFeeder
monthly newsletter. It’s always filled with great information. You can probably still get yourself a copy
from the PortalFeeder website once you visit that link above.

When marketers start using Google’s Placement Targeting, the sheer amount of choice out there can be quite intimidating. How do you pick Adsense publishers that will drive traffic to your site out of the thousands and thousands that are available? And how do you do it for the best possible price?

Standard Placement Options

Google’s placement targeting works in a similar way to Google Adwords. Much as you would narrow down what search results you wanted to appear in by targeting specific keyword sets, with placement targeting you can narrow down where you want your Adsense ads to appear. By searching either by keyword or a specific site, you can decide exactly where you want your ads to appear. A chosen placement could be a website, a subset of a site, or an ad position on another product. This allows you to handpick sites, and even specific pages of sites, that you think will help to sell your product.

Anyone using AdWords Standard Edition can use placements. You can even add placements to an existing campaign; simply click on the “Placements” tab on the main page of the ad group. There are four ways to identify placements: “list URLs”, “describe topics”, “browse topics”, and “select demographics”.

You can use all 4 options when deciding where to put your placements. With each search, up to 100 available placements will be listed, with the approximate number of impressions per day listed. You can also refine your search by the type of ad you want to run by clicking on “Choose Formats”. Select the formats and sizes that you want to use, and Google will refine the list to show only the sites with the selected formats available.

The absolute best method for finding sites to advertise on however, is not to use the info that Google provides, instead you want to find sites that are showing up in the top 10 rankings of Google for specific “high traffic” keywords. This allows you to be sure that your ads are being seen by targeted prospects and are on sites that you know get traffic.

Increase Your Savings and ROI On Targeted CPM With AdWordsDigger

Another option with Google’s Placement Targeting is you can choose whether or not you want to pay for the campaign using CPC (cost-per-click) or CPM (cost-per-thousand; the ‘M’ stands for the Roman numeral meaning ‘1000’). While CPC campaigns have become more popular because you only pay for people who actually click on your ads, the price of CPC ads have increased significantly in the past couple of years. A CPM campaign, when used in conjunction with careful placement targeting, can be an economic alternative.

The theory behind this is that is you’ve carefully targeted the websites your ads are going to appear on, then your click-through rates are going to be much higher than the average, making the CPM option (with lower costs because there are no guaranteed click-throughs) better for your campaign. It is important to remember that you will need to constantly analyze the results of your campaign to ensure that your CPM costs are, in fact, saving you money versus CPC. If sites are not performing within the standards you’ve set for the campaign, remove them; likewise, if a particular site is giving you a great click-through-rate, invest more impressions in that site.

Google’s placement targeting is a great resource if you want to make the most out of your Adsense campaign. It is a valuable resource for anyone running an online business who wants to drive lots of traffic to their site for the best possible price. The placement targeting system also allows you to run a CPM campaign to get you click-throughs at a much lower rate than you’d be paying for a CPC campaign.
