The ads WERE BEING displayed in the bar area of the Hootsuite. I have noticed that the ads haven't been displayed and sent a trouble ticket in on the problem. The folks at Hootsuite are working to resolve the issue. Another company that also has an ad feed is <a href="http://www.adjix.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Adjix</a>. I can't give a glowing review of their payout, but maybe they will improve as the market matures.

I'm not a fan of the service either. I wrote about it let those that were interested investigate their offerings.

As far as bots, I'm not a fan of those either, but I do use it only for news updates and not for affiliate links. If you were going to promote affiliate promotions on Twitter, I would check with each affiliate to make sure they were OK with it. A year ago I ask one merchant if they would allow Twitter and they were totally in the dark on the subject.

Twitter is still young and I would hate to see it get ruined by unwanted offers or Spam because a few wanted to profit off the many (to paraphrase Spock).

If you are running a blog I would suggest trying Peperjam out, their store for blogs gives the owner a chance to target their readers' interest. Then tweets about your post will lead them to your virtual door.

Best,
Jeff

Ive used this service and frankly its a real bad investment. Their targeting is extremely hopeless. They also don’t check on duplicate tweets, so Ive had the same person tweet my ad on 2 consecutive days and I had to pay twice to reach the same set of people. FYI, I can create fake profiles and follow a targeted set of users on twitter have about 50% of them follow me back and post my advert to them at $0 using my bot.

The reporting is an analytics eyewash and their customer support takes 3 days to reply.

If you ask me stay away and stop promoting this crappy site. You can make more money pushing affiliate offers to your followers.

Thanks for the catch Mantis108. I had forgot that Wordpress would "add" to the script. I've added a link for folks to download the file. The comments are OK, if they are a separate line from the code. Think it is just there to make it easier to find errors when they pop up.

Great post, though the code above won't work because you have it commented out. Also, if you copy and paste I think the double quotes are incorrect. This will work:

if (top.location != self.location) {
top.location = self.location.href
}

Thanks for the great idea -- worked like a charm on our sites!

Keep up the good work. As I have enough money to last me ten lifetimes, I really don't need any more, but I still follow people's marketing psychology - out of academic interest only.
