How to Spread the #News

You got through with a killer post. You know it will it show up on some of the feed aggregators and maybe Google will spider it, but you want the word NOW. If your using Twitter you’re in luck.

There are two good plug-in for WordPress that will send out a tweet as soon as publish if you configure them to do so. Twitpress by Tom Purnell and Twitter Tools by Alex King both will send out news of your post as soon as you hit publish on WordPress. Twitter Tools as another feature that will collect all your tweets and publish a post as a daily digest or even take each tweet and create a post on your WordPress blog if you want. One this blog I decided to do the daily digest so that something would be published even if I didn’t have time to spend on writing something for the day.

Now if you are using a blog hosted at WordPress.com, Blogger.com, Myspace.com or where ever else you can’t add plug-ins to the under workings of your blog. Don’t feel all left out just yet, there is a work around for this situation (of course you could sign up for webhosting service from Webhostingpad.com and host it yourself). The service Twitterfeed which will take your RSS feed and automatically send out a tweet. This service will not send out as soon as publish. You’ll have to wait at longest 30 minutes for the service to see your new post and tweet it. So the instant gratification is delayed a little, but it will come so you can not have to remember to tweet it yourself.

The next thing you will be wanting to do is look at your blog title. If you want you post it get any juice from the Twitter action you might want to look at the keywords you’re using. Think about what folks on the other end of Twitter will be searching and try incorporate that one word that will bring them to you post. This is something you should already be doing, but it doesn’t hurt to hear it again.

For those of you follow The Lunch Money Challenge, we’ll be moving on to the next step towards bringing in the cash for lunch on Wednesday. This will give you a little more time to mentally gear up for it. For the ones that have asked how much I make with this system, I’ll try to answer that question. I really don’t want to say the amount, but here’s a hint – I usually grab lunch at causal grill now far from my home/office. I try to take at least one customer or perspective customer, order whatever sound great and a few beers. I do this five days a week, on weekend I catch the games there also. So calculate somewhere around 48 hamburger platters, 98 draft beers, probably 12 other lunch menu items, a few appetizers and a lot hot wings. So it’s nothing like a get rich quick work a home thing that’s advertised on late night infomercials income. The income is enough to keep a business type lunches in my everyday budget without loading up my credit cards. To do this using nothing more than social media, some affiliate marketing connections, an hour or two a night and I didn’t have sell time shares, prepaid services or some other program.
